Panther Creek Go Green

The mission of the Tennessee State Parks Go Green With Us program is to preserve and protect our state parks through sustainable park operations, resource conservation, and recycling. Program components cover a diverse array of initiatives, including energy and water conservation through equipment and operations upgrades, recycling programs, projects to enhance ecosystem health, and erosion control, among many others.

  • Panther Creek State Park has had great success with reducing their energy consumption.
  • The park conducted an external energy audit, tracking electricity and water consumption.
  • The park installed an energy efficient water heater and more insulation at a ranger residence.
  • The swimming pool has new and more efficient filtration system pumps.
  • The park participates in  TVA’s Green Power Switch program.
  • The park works to minimize erosion in their campground and on their trails through drainage system upgrades including French drains, water bars and flexible water bars, drainage dips and tile, and walkways where appropriate.
  • Ranger staff conduct controlled burns in the fields near the front of the park to help maintain ecosystem health.
