Panther Creek State Park

The Picnic Area 2 and Smallman Shelter restrooms are currently closed due to plumbing repair needs. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to repair and reopen the restrooms as quickly as possible. The restrooms adjacent to the Spoone Shelter, playground, and visitor center remain open to the public. 

The Panther Creek State Park pool will not reopen as of Summer, 2022. Unfortunately, the pool is 36 years old, visitation is down, lake swimming opportunities exist, and a public splash pad is five miles away. Due to these factors, Tennessee State Parks can no longer justify to Tennessee taxpayers the costs associated with keeping this pool in operation. However, we are excited to have the opportunity to invest in a more fiscally responsible outdoor recreation option Panther Creek State Park that would provide year-round benefits.

Our parks are free for everyone to visit and enjoy. If you love Panther Creek State Park, you can donate today to help us continue investing in quality programs and services. Your donations will help make your favorite park even better! We'll use the donations for things like:

  • Building and maintaining new trails
  • Feeding and care for our birds of prey (eagles, hawks, owls, etc.)
  • Providing children's programs to connect youth to the outdoors
  • Upgrading our playground equipment
  • Projects that improve visitor experience, not funded by the state's General Fund

Friends of Panther Creek State Park

Friends of Panther Creek is a non-profit 501c3 organization dedicated to promoting and supporting the park through education and financial means. One hundred percent of the membership fees, donations, and funds we raise stay right here in the park. Becoming an active member is fun and rewarding!

We need your help in preserving and protecting this park’s heritage and resources for future generations to come. Help us support these programs as well as many others:

  • Playground and trail improvements
  • Purchase, construction, and maintenance of the aviary for the Birds of Prey exhibit and the park’s overlook area
  • Funding for the Junior Ranger Camps
  • Many other “park extras” such as trail maps, pool equipment, etc.
