July 4 Celebrations

Independence Day is right around the corner. It’s a time for freedom, family, and fireworks. Together we celebrate the founding principles of this great nation. What better place to do that than on the public lands that exist to connect you, the people, to the great outdoors? Whether you’re looking for something to do the weekend before or the day of, we have the perfect Fourth of July celebration for you.

Weekend Before

Sycamore Shoals State Historic Park

July 1, 2017

The obvious place to start your Independence Day celebration is to step back in time to where it all began. Hear the news of the British defeat in the same way the settlers at Fort Watauga would have in the 1800s. The brave men and women who resided at the fort played an instrumental role in driving the British to their eventual surrender at Yorktown. Come walk among historical characters at Sycamore Shoals State Historic Park and hear how settlers reacted to the Declaration of Independence as the news travelled throughout the colonies and frontier.

Montgomery Bell State Park

July 1, 2017

Grab your glow sticks, lace up your kicks, and join us for the Firecracker 5k Glow Run & 1 Mile Fun Run at Montgomery Bell State Park. This is the perfect way to work off the effects of the family barbecue and have fun while doing it. The run will take place at the Frank G. Clement Golf Course at Montgomery Bell State Park near Nashville, Tennessee (pictured above).

Reelfoot Lake State Park

July 1 -4, 2017

Reelfoot Lake State Park is hosting a bunch of events over the weekend before July 4, including a “Sunset & Fireworks Cruise” on July 1. The pontoon cruise departs at 7pm and the fireworks start at 9pm. The park is also hosting a flea market in addition to other pontoon and canoe tours throughout the day Saturday to Tuesday.

July 4 Events

Paris Landing State Park

Paris Landing State Park, located on Kentucky Lake, is a great destination for viewing the fireworks. The park will kick off festivities at 7PM with music and food vendors, and invites the public to stick around for the fireworks display that evening. The event is free and open to all ages. Come out and enjoy a day on the water. The golf course, restaurant, hiking trails, pool and marina will all be open.

Pickwick Landing State Park

Pickwick Landing State Park, located just north of the Mississippi line, is another great fireworks destination on the Tennessee River. The park is partnering with Tour Hardin County and the Friends of Pickwick Landing State Park to bring you a night of fireworks on the lake. Expect to find all day fun at the park leading up to the fireworks at 9PM.
