As we ease into a new year full of possibilities, people want to start dreaming about the exciting adventures they’ll have. For some, visiting the same beachside location from previous years is the total package, but others might prefer to explore something new and wild. To help, we’ve compiled the top Tennessee State Parks cabins, campsites, and lodges of 2022 to inspire your adventures in the new year.

Montgomery Bell State Park

Middle, TN • 1020 Jackson Hill Road, Burns, TN 37029 

Outdoor fireplaces, easy lake access, and dining within walking distance are just a few things that make the cabins at Montgomery Bell some of the most sought-after in the state. Cabin guests also receive complimentary access to the lodge pool. Explore the clear streams that run through the park, admire the spillway at sunset, and grab drinks on the restaurant’s outdoor patio.

Pickett CCC Memorial State Park 

East, TN • 4605 Pickett Park Highway, Jamestown, TN 38556 

From rustic with charm to modern with all the amenities, Pickett has a cabin that will fit your style. Perfect for a romantic retreat, the historic cabins were built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps and have been restored with modern appliances, comfortable furniture, and charming finishes. Families will fit comfortably in the deluxe cabins that sleep up to eight. Spend your days exploring one of the most unique landscapes in Tennessee with features such as caves, waterfalls, canyons, and some of the darkest skies in the south.

Roan Mountain State Park

A charming mountain retreat perfect for families. The cabins at Roan Mountain State Park are located a short drive away from the top of the mountain where you’ll find 360-degree views that rival the Smokies. In the summer, enjoy thick blooms of Rhododendrons and lush green meadows. In the winter, ski across snow-covered mountain tops and get cozy next to the wood-burning stove.

Fall Creek Falls State Park

Whether you choose a fisherman cabin with a spacious porch overhanging the lake or a landside cabin tucked away in the woods, you’ll be close to the endless adventures Fall Creek Falls State Park offers. Grab lunch and drinks on the restaurant patio, plunge into cool natural waters, and stand at the base of the largest waterfall east of the Mississippi River.

Rock Island State Park 

Middle, TN • 82 Beach Road, Rock Island, TN 38581 

Rock Island offers ten beautiful three-bedroom cabins on a peaceful, secluded loop. Cabin guests can visit two scenic waterfalls, the 30-foot Great Falls and 80-foot Twin Falls. Paddle the Caney Fork River, enjoy a day at the sandy swim beach, rock hop in the Caney Fork River Gorge, and swim in deep blue pools.

The Lodge at Fall Creek Falls

Middle, TN • 2536 Lakeside Rd, Spencer, TN 38585

This brand-new lodge and restaurant opened in 2021. It is a gateway to one of the most spectacular outdoor destinations in Tennessee, combining the modern comforts of traditional hotels with immersion in a peaceful and tranquil natural setting. When you step out of the lobby, you enter a world of towering waterfalls, breathtaking overlooks, hiking, paddling, treetop adventures, golfing, fishing, and more.

The Lodge at Montgomery Bell

Middle, TN • 1000 Hotel Ave, Burns, TN 37029

Located in the middle of serene Montgomery Bell State Park, just 40 minutes outside Nashville, the 117-room hotel sits on the banks of Lake Acorn, featuring modern rooms and a full-service restaurant and bar. Relax by the outdoor pool or kick back with a craft beer in the lounge after a day spent vacationing in the outdoors. For the more adventuresome, the park has kayaks for rent on Lake Acorn, miles of hiking trails, dedicated mountain bike trails, and an 18-hole golf course.

The Lodge at Paris Landing 

West, TN • 400 Lodge Road, Buchanan, TN 38222

Newly opened in 2022, the 91-room Lodge at Paris Landing sits on the shores of Kentucky Lake near Land Between the Lakes. The restaurant offers incredible lake views and includes an outdoor patio with a large fire pit. Enjoy boating, swimming, fishing, hiking, golfing, or just relaxing and enjoying natural beauty and wildlife.

Harrison Bay State Park 

East, TN • 8411 Harrison Bay Road, Harrison, TN 37341 

The Park: A beautiful park with an excellent campground, golf course, and lake. Fish from the dock, swim in the cool lake waters, rent kayaks, and gaze up at the stars. 

The Campground: 128 RV campsites with water and electric hookups and 27 tent-only campsites without water or electricity. A few of the RV campsites sit on the lakeshore offering incredible views of the sunset and night sky.

Montgomery Bell State Park 

Middle, TN • 1020 Jackson Hill Road, Burns, TN 37029 

The Park: Located 40 minutes west of downtown Nashville, Montgomery Bell State Park is a natural oasis spanning over 3,000 acres of woods and lakes. Dine lakeside at the restaurant, hike gorgeous trails, paddleboard the calm lake waters, and attend a unique park program.  

The Campground: Running along a peaceful stream, the campground offers RV sites with water and electric hookups, 40 of which offer full hookups, and 22 tent-only sites without water or electricity.

Warriors’ Path State Park 

East, TN • 490 Hemlock Road, Kingsport, TN 37663 

The Park: A unique family-friendly park with lots of inclusive activities, such as a sensory braille trail that tells the story of Narnia and a Boundless playground. This park is also home to one of the most renowned mountain biking trails in Tennessee. Paddle the lake, hike up a ridge at sunrise, and enjoy the wildlife. 

The Campground: The main campground has 94 campsites for RVs and tents, all with water and electric hookups. The park also offers a unique hammock campground with four sites that can each accommodate up to 12 hammocks.

Fall Creek Falls State Park 

Middle, TN • 2009 Village Camp Rd, Spencer, TN 38585 

The Park: Fall Creek Falls is one the most visited parks in Tennessee for good reason. It provides the perfect balance of adventure and relaxation, offering miles of incredible hiking, a brand-new restaurant, an 18-hole golf course, a swimming hole and pool, boat rentals, an adventure challenge course, and much more. Chase waterfalls, dine with lake views, and watch the sunset from a secluded overlook. 

The Campground: 222 campsites in five different areas, all with water and electricity. 92 campsites have full hookups, including water, electric, and sewer.

Bledsoe Creek State Park 

Middle, TN • 400 Zieglers Fort Rd, Gallatin, TN 37066 

The Park: This small but mighty park sits on the shores of Old Hickory Lake outside of Nashville. Explore wetlands and dry ridges, enjoy a picnic while watching wildlife, and attend a park program. 

The Campground: Bledsoe Creek has 58 paved campsites with water and electric hookups. Some of these sites have excellent lake views. Hammock sites without water and electric hookups are also available.
