Natural Areas Week
Tennessee Division of Natural Areas will Celebrate Natural Areas Week 2021, beginning April 3rd and continuing through April 11. The division’s experienced event leaders will be leading outings at designated State Natural Areas across Tennessee, from the escarpment of the Cumberland Plateau at Virgin Falls and across the cedar glades of the Nashville Basin, to a boardwalk tour of Big Cypress Tree in the lowlands of the West, there is an event for everyone. Please join Tennessee Division of Natural Areas staff and partners as they explore, explain and celebrate the wonder of Tennessee State Natural Areas during the 2021 Natural Areas Week. Spring is a great time to get outside!
Natural Areas 50th Anniversary
May 4, 2021, marks the 50th Anniversary of State Natural Areas in Tennessee. Staff and partners will also lead special hikes in May to commemorate this legislation. Learn more and make plans to join staff for these events too.
Want to support your favorite natural area?
Consider donating to show your support for these special places. Donated funds may be used for rare species monitoring, management or reintroductions, or various land management efforts such as prescribed burning or mechanical clearing. They may also be used to enhance visitor infrastructure on Designated State Natural Areas through trail improvements, parking, and access control measures.
