Kit’s Club

Kit’s Club is the newest outdoor program for children ages four to six offered by Tennessee State Parks. Children and their caregivers/guardians will join expert Park Rangers on an exploration of the wonderful outdoors and natural resources in Tennessee.  From unearthing wiggling worms to diving into aquatic creatures, Kits Club provides introductory outdoor play experiences while teaching the value of natural recycling.

To become an official Kit’s Club graduate, complete the three Growing Up WILD sessions—Wiggling Worms, Aqua Charades, and Less Is More.

  • Wiggling Worms - Learn about earthworms and the important role they have in breaking down dead materials and helping fertilize and aerate the soil.
  • Aqua Charades - Discover how water plays a vital role in the lives of people, animals, and plants.
  • Less is More  - Consider how the products we buy and discard can affect the amount of resources needed to support our lifestyles, and how using less helps other people, animals, and plants.

Program History

Wiggling Worms, Aqua Charades, and Less Is More are programs developed by the Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies as part of their Growing Up WILD program series. Growing Up WILD is an early childhood education curriculum that builds on children’s sense of wonder about nature and invites them to explore wildlife and the world around them. Through a wide range of activities and experiences, Growing Up WILD provides an early foundation for developing positive impressions about the natural world and lifelong social and academic skills.

Tennessee State Parks’ Kit’s Club Program was developed in partnership with the Tennessee State Parks Conservancy through a grant provided by the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee.
