Join State Naturalist Randy Hedgepath and Ranger Cara Alexander on a three-day, two-night exploration of some of our most beautiful state waterfalls. This outdoor adventure features the waterfalls at Fall Creek Falls State Park and the impressive cascades and plunges of Burgess Falls State Park, Cummins Falls State Park and Rock Island State Park. Focusing on the beauty and history of these majestic falls, the tours also include educational and interpretive programs unique to each location.

Day 1: April 26


1:00 PM: Tour of Lost Creek Falls State Natural Area. For those that can arrive midday on Friday, meet in the Fall Creek Falls lobby to take this special trip.

4:00-5:00 PM: Check in at Fall Creek Falls Inn.

6:00-7:00 PM: Social time and group dinner at the Fall Creek Falls Restaurant.

7:00 PM: Meet in the Cascade Room for an informal slide show by State Naturalist Randy Hedgepath.   

Day 2: April 27  


7:00 AM:  Group breakfast at the Fall Creek Falls Restaurant.

8:00 AM: Meet in the lobby as we depart for a beautiful tour of Burgess Falls, Cummins Falls and Rock Island. Lunch will be at Burgess Falls and we should arrive back to Fall Creek Falls by 5 PM.

6:00 PM: Group dinner at Fall Creek Falls Restaurant.

Day 3: April 28


7:30 AM: Group breakfast at the Fall Creek Falls Restaurant and check out of your room.

8:30 AM Meet in the lobby to explore the many wonders of Fall Creek Falls. This tour will conclude by noon.

* The hikes will be moderate in difficulty on rugged trails.

ABOUT YOUR GUIDES

State Naturalist Randy Hedgepath has more than 32 years of experience with Tennessee State Parks. Randy has served as a Ranger Naturalist at South Cumberland and Radnor Lake State Parks. He was appointed State Naturalist for Tennessee State Parks in 2007. A graduate of UT-Martin and former National Park Service Interpretive Specialist, Randy is one of the most sought after interpretive specialists in the southeastern United States.

Park Ranger Cara Alexander graduated from U. T. Knoxville with a B.S. in Forestry and a minor in Wildlife and Fisheries Science. She began her career with Tennessee State Parks as the Seasonal Interpretive Ranger at Davy Crockett Birthplace and Fall Creek Falls State Parks. As a full time Ranger since 2011, Cara has worked at the Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park in Nashville and at Fall Creek Falls State Park. Her interests include hiking, birding, and photography.
