Fishing Rodeo

Jun 07

Bring your kids for a fun and exciting fishing rodeo. Meet at the boat ramp parking area at 9:00 a.m. ET to enjoy a friendly fishing competition in Cherokee Lake in celebration of east Tennessee FREE fishing day (no fishing license required). Fishing equipment and bait will be provided by the park. Prizes will be awarded for the largest and most fish caught. This event is open to kids between the ages of 8 and 15 and is limited to 20 participants. Registration is required and begins May 30th. For more information call 423-587-7046.

Junior Ranger Naturalist Camp

Join us at Spoone Shelter for Junior Ranger Naturalist Camp from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. ET each day. During these fun-filled day-camps, you will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of environmental, natural and recreational programs including: canoeing, stream stomps, hiking, orienteering, recycling, Leave-No-Trace activities, water safety, and much more. On Friday, we will enjoy a pizza party and closing celebration at River Sports Outfitter’s Climbing Center in Knoxville.

Parents, the Junior Ranger Naturalist Camp is free for participants ages 10 to 14 through a generous grant from River Sports Outfitters and the Friends of Panther Creek State Park. Your kids will get hands on experience participating in field investigations and conservation projects while addressing local environmental issues. Certain restrictions and requirements apply. Registration begins May 31st with a maximum of 20 participants each week. For more information and registration call 423-587-7046.

Heritage Day

​Bring your family to the 3rd annual Heritage Day celebration at the Upper Campground Pavilion from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. ET. This event will include live music, food, crafts, hay rides, games and prizes, candy bags, tomahawk throwing, marshmallow roasting, pumpkin piñatas, historical displays and demonstrations. This is a free family event but attendants are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for donation to local families in need. For more information call 423-587-7046.

Christmas in the Park

Join the friends and staff of the park to celebrate the 11th annual Christmas in the Park program beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the Upper Campground Pavilion. The festivities will include crafts, Christmas stories and hayrides throughout the park. Warm yourself by the fire while enjoying hot chocolate and sugary treats provided by the Friends of Panther Creek State Park. This is a free family event but participants are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for donation to those in need during the holiday season. For more information call 423-587-7046.
