Fall Creek Falls Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage

Welcome to our Spring Wildflower Pilgrimage! Spring is here and the park is bursting with new life. The trees are budding and the wildflowers are starting to bloom, dotting the landscape with delightful hues of pastel colors. It’s a great time to enjoy some hiking, picnicking, boating and wildlife watching while taking in the beautiful scenery. *A parent or guardian must accompany youngsters 12 years old and younger.

Friday, April 4
6 p.m.  Welcome to Wildflower Weekend – While you are enjoying the seafood buffet at the Inn, be sure to stop by the lobby to talk to Ranger Matt about the park and the rest of the weekend's events. There will be a rolling slide show of some of the area's wildflowers from 6pm – 7pm in the lobby for you to enjoy while you enter and exit the Inn as well.

8 p.m. Evening Nature Ramble – Meet Ranger Matt at the Campers’ Check-In for a nature walk around the golf course. This is the peak time to see some of the park’s nightlife like deer, raccoons, frogs, etc. If it’s clear, we may look at a star or two as well.

Saturday, April 5

9:30 a.m. Wildflower Photography – Meet local photographer Anthony Ladd at the Nature Center for a short drive to the Crusher Hole. Carpooling is recommended. While at this wildflower hotspot, Anthony will lead a hands-on photography session. The Crusher Hole area has an abundance of wildflowers so don’t miss out on this photography session.

10 a.m. Wheeler Farm Excursion – Meet Jon at the Nature Center for a short drive to the Wheeler Farm to view some spectacular geologic features and wildflowers. Carpooling is recommended. This will be a moderately strenuous 2-mile roundtrip hike to a natural bridge and small waterfall. Wear sturdy shoes or boots and bring along some water.

12 p.m. Hemlock Falls – Meet Ranger Matt at the Nature Center and follow him to the Prater Place Trailhead. This hike is a moderately strenuous, 6-mile adventure to a small but beautiful waterfall. The Prater Place Trail is loaded with wildflowers like toothwort, hepatica, and bloodroot. Bring water, a camera and plenty of energy!

2 p.m. Wildflower Hotspot Van Tour – Meet Jon at the lobby of the Inn for an afternoon filled with wildflowers! We will ride to hotspots like the Crusher Hole, Camp’s Gulf and the Lost Creek Cave addition. There will be some short walks involved in the tour. There is a limit of 14 and a fee of $10 per seat. Sign up at the Inn. In case of cancellation, no refunds can be given.

9:30 a.m. Wildflower Slideshow – Meet Jon at the Nature Center for a photographic tour of our area wildflowers.

Fall Creek Falls hosts TN Spring Star Party

May 02 – May 04

Join fellow star gazers for a weekend of celestial fun. Professional and amateur astronomers will give presentations and dark sky field viewing will be Friday and Saturday night with alternate programming in the event of bad weather. There is no registration fee, your only cost is lodging and food. Outdoor Adventure Package

Fall Creek Falls hosts Fourth of July Celebration

Dress up your car, your bike or yourself for our traditional parade, which ends in Campground A. After watermelon and cake, we will move to the field for events such a sack race, the egg toss, tug-o-war and other family favorites. For more information call the nature center at 423-881-5708.

Fall Creek Falls hosts Backpacking Trip

Join us for a 13-mile trek through some of the more remote portions of the park. This hike is for both novices and experienced backpackers and includes a two-day guided hike with an overnight camp.
