2014 Fall Photo Contest

Calling all amateur photographers! Paris Landing State Park will be accepting submissions for the 2014 Fall Photo Contest from September 1 - October 12, 2014. There is no fee to enter and participants may submit a maximum of three (3) photos per category. All photos must be of Paris Landing State Park. Photographs will be judged in the following categories:

  • 1. Wildlife — Portraits and Behavior.
  • 2. Plant Life – The plants that make a beautiful park.
  • 3. People in Parks — People enjoying Paris Landing.
  • 4. Scenery — Landscapes from the land or water.
  • 5. Sports — Golf, skiing, tennis, fishing, basketball, swimming, volleyball, hiking or any other sport that can be played on the park.
  • 6. Black & White — A black & white photo of Paris Landing State Park. The photo may be of wildlife, plant life, people in parks, scenery or sports.

Prizes - Prizes will be awarded at Paris Landing State Park Inn on November 16, 2014 at 3 p.m. by Dr. Danny Kimberlin, Judge. Prizes will be awarded for:

  • Best of Show
    One of the six first place winners will be chosen Best and presented a $50 award. Photo will be displayed on Paris Landing website.
  • First place, all categories
    Photo will be displayed in the lobby and displayed on Paris Landing website. One night free lodging at the Inn and two dinner buffets.
  • Second place, all categories
    Photo displayed on Paris Landing website and two dinner buffets. 
  • Third place, all categories
    Photo displayed on Paris Landing website and a certificate of recognition.

How To Enter?
There is no entry fee. Entrants may submit a maximum of three (3) photos per category. An image may be entered in only one category. For instance, a photo of a skier being pulled across the lake could fit into the scenery or sports category, you must choose the category in which you want the image to compete.

Each photo submitted must include:

  • Entry form
  • 8” x 10” hard copy photograph
  • jpeg file 300 dpi 

Multiple photos may be placed on the same CD. Each photograph should have the photographers name, address, phone number and category on the back. An entry form is required with each photograph. A photo will not be considered without the digital file. No photographs submitted to the contest will be returned. The photographs can also be entered by leaving them at the front desk of the Paris Landing State Park Inn. All photos must be received by midnight October 12, 2014.

The photographs can also be entered by leaving photos, forms and CDs at the front desk of the Paris Landing State Park Inn.

Please Note: The contest is open to all amateur photographers, of any age, who have submitted a complete registration form. If under 18, a signed permission form from his or her parent or legal guardian must be included. Employees of Paris Landing State Park, members of The Friends of Paris Landing State Park, contest judge and their immediate families including children, siblings and spouses are excluded. Professional photographers are also prohibited from entering.

Manipulation of images, either film or digital, should be limited to conventional darkroom techniques or basic sharpening, cropping and removal of dust spots. Images should contain only the subject matter as originally seen through the view finder. An entrant must hold all rights to a photograph. Photos previously published or pending publication or that violate or infringe upon another person’s copyright, are not eligible.

Judge
Winners will be selected by Dr. Danny Kimberlin of Paris, Tennessee. Entries will be judged on reflection of theme, technical excellence, visual impact, and composition. All decisions of the judge on all matters relating to the competition are final.

The Fine Print
By entering the Paris Landing State Park Photography Contest entrants agree that if their submission is selected as a winner, they grant the right to display their photograph(s). Photographers retain ownership of all copyrights. However, by submitting an image for entry in this contest, you automatically shall and hereby do give Paris Landing State Park and The State of Tennessee exclusive, non-transferable, worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable license without charge to reproduce and display the image in any electronic, optical, physical, or other medium, to modify its size and resolution, indefinitely in any media without notification or compensation.
